Q&A with Adam:
Favorite scripture verse
“Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke and encourage your people with good teaching.” -2 Timothy 4:2 I like these chapters too - I Corinthians 13 and Psalm 1
Why radio? How did you get into radio?
My grandfather started a new church in the early ’70’s and, to not burden the new work, took a part time job at the local Christian radio station. He announced my 5th birthday on air, and I was hooked! That station was WCTL.
What is the best concert you have ever attended?
Creation in the mid-’90’s. The 30,000+ in attendance are waiting for dcTalk to take the stage. A helicopter hovers overhead and three people descend from the aircraft to the back of the main stage. Toby, Michael & Kevin then come running out and the concert begins. When you open with a helicopter, you’re bound to have a pretty good show.
What hobbies do you have in your free time?
I love to work on, race and build cars. I love to play bass, also.
What is your perfect day?
Not sure about perfect, but to work on my car during the day and take my family out for dinner in the same car is pretty satisfying. Then taking a family walk or getting together with my siblings and their families at my parent’s house for one of our outdoor fires (in their outdoor fireplace) would be a pretty nice way to end the evening.
What if your favorite TV show from your childhood?
A-Team was pretty cool and Dukes of Hazzard has to be up there somewhere too, but you can’t beat Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes.
What is your favorite animated movie?
If you could spend a day with any person, living or dead, who would it be?
Wow...several. Founding fathers George Washington, Noah Webster. Actors Cary Grant, Steve McQueen. Car guys Carroll Shelby, Tom Hoover (widely considered the father of the 2nd generation Hemi engine), Richard Petty, Bobby Isaac. Bible characters Solomon, David, Peter...many others.
What is your favorite thing to do in Erie?
Cruising the Peninsula during a beautiful summer day is hard to beat.
What is your fondest WCTL memory?
Miracle Sharathon in 1998 was pretty special. Calling the General McLane Lancers state championship game was a lot of fun, too.
What do you love about working here?
The way radio can impact lives for the cause of Christ.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
What is your favorite non-scripture quote?
Worry is like a rocking chair, gives you something to do but you don’t get anywhere.
Any other fun facts you want listeners to know?
I missed one day of school in 9 years. I was 6’2” when I was 13. Q is my real middle initial.
