In honor of the 75th anniversary of the annual "Save An Eye" All-Star Football Game, the Erie Lions Club announced it is preparing a coffee table book for release that will commemorate the game's history. The Lions Club is currently seeking information and memorabilia to be used in the book. Items will be scanned, copied or photographed and then returned. The club is also seeking interviews with former players and family members.
The Lions Club will host an open house on Saturday, January 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sight Center of Northwest Pennsylvania, 2545 W. 6th Street in Erie. Committee members will be on hand to copy or scan data, take photos and record game memories. If you are able to contribute, please plan on attending this Saturday.
The 75th anniversary of the game will be held on Friday, July 26th, 2013. The benefit game has been broadcast exclusively by WCTL's award-winning sportscasters since 2004. Proceeds from the event are used to provide eye care to needy children in the local area.
