Ann McElhenney and her husband Phelim McAleer covered the trial of Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia “house of horrors” abortionist who is now serving a life sentence for the first-degree murders of three infants who were born alive after third-trimester abortion attempts. Ann & Phelim were compelled to cover Gosnell’s story by the near-total news media blackout of the story.

In addition to attending the trial, Ann & Phelim researched the sordid history of Gosnell’s facility and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s longstanding hands-off attitude toward abortion facilities. Despite numerous serious complaints over many years, the Pennsylvania Department of Health showed almost no interest and in effect gave Gosnell a free pass to continue victimizing women.

One of his patients, Karnamaya Mongar, an immigrant from Nepal actually died from the effects of incompetently and carelessly administered sedation.

Ann & Phelim produced a full length movie that tells the story of the investigation, arrest, and trial of Kermit Gosnell. In January 2017 they published a book that presents the complete results of their investigations. The movie has been viewed by select audiences and is expected to be released for general distribution in the near future. The movie is called, simply, GOSNELL. The book is titled, GOSNELL: THE UNTOLD STORY OF AMERICA’S MOST PROLIFIC SERIAL KILLER.
